Our Personal Trainers

Our team of experienced trainers are nationally certified. Most trainers hold additional accreditation in other specialized fields of fitness such as nutrition and weight loss.

Training Basics

Personal training sessions begin with a simple and comprehensive evaluation, which provides a baseline to set and measure goals. Based on personal needs and goals, our MAC trainers develop an individually customized routine. Our trainers also teach members how to use our fitness equipment safely and effectively.

Two free personal training sessions

New adult members receive two complimentary personal training sessions. These sessions include pre-assessments for physical fitness and orientation to use of the various strength and cardio machines available at the club.  Get details, schedule an evaluation or buy a package today.

Tennis Conditioning Classes

MAC Tennis Conditioning Class

One of the best, yet overlooked, ways to improve your tennis game is simply to improve your physical fitness. Tennis specific training drills can have a substantial impact on your speed, agility and explosiveness on the tennis court. Club and recreational players usually lack tennis fitness drills from their overall workout regimen, and this results in slower and poor footwork movement on the court. In tennis, foot speed and agility directly translates to your ability to reach the ball in time and be properly balanced to hit an aggressive shot.

 
Tennis fitness drills are unique in the way that they are tailor made for the specific demands that the sport places upon the body. An average point in tennis lasts 3 to 5 seconds. During a point, you will probably change direction 3 or 4 times. Time in between points is about 20 seconds. Therefore, drills should be designed in order to improve your ability to do a series of short bursts of maximal exertion over an extended period of time. Furthermore, drills to improve your movement in various directions are also very much needed.
 

MAC personal trainer, Amber Fowler, is please to offer an off-the-court tennis specific conditioning class.  The class will begin January 10th, and it will be held every Tuesday and Thursday evening from 6:30-7:30pm. Price is $10.00 per person (for both members and nonmembers) per class. Punchcards will be available, $100.00 for 12 classes (2 free when card is purchased).

Please sign up for and pay at the front desk for the specific date(s) you plan to attend.  Make sure to keep your receipt as your “ticket” into class.  While drop-ins will be accepted, prior registration is requested so that the trainer may be prepared for the accurate number of participants.  Amber looks forward to working with you and helping your upskill your tennis game.

Personal Yoga Training

Why invest in yoga personal training? A private session allows for a more intimate view into YOUR practice. You can start a new practice, deepen your current practice or spend some time working with an injury or specific goal or concern. Injuries and health concerns can make a normal yoga class impractical for some participants.

A yoga instructor teaching several students at one time cannot focus on individual needs or ensure that the poses will not further injure or strain a particular person. Furthermore, health concerns like pregnancy, diabetes or heart disease may require special alterations to one’s yoga practice. When health concerns are a potential issue, it is best to have a private yoga lesson with a properly trained Yoga Therapist. This can aid in working around the problem, avoid further complications, and help to ease pain or lessen the effects of a certain diagnosis.
